Being a leading innovator within the field of credit referencing, it is paramount that Callcredit ensures the accuracy, intelligence and reliability of its critical information systems. Any systematic flaw or bug could potentially lead to significant financial losses for clients and severe damage to the group’s reputation. With an ever-growing code base, Callcredit recognised the need for implementing test automation.
The project to automate a significant proportion of the regression test workload was broken
down into three distinct parts. The first phase was to make a proof of concept, this allowed for both Callcredit and Sogeti to identify processes and how automation could benefit these. Secondly to set up a collaborative workflow between the 2 teams in order to create the automated scripts. Finally, Sogeti ensured that the coding of the automation scripts was complete for the newly rationalised pool of test assets.
Within four months, Sogeti the bulk of the regression testing had been automated. This enabled an increased test coverage of 500%, improved execution coverage by 300% and created an associated man-day saving of £100,000+ per year, freeing up Callcredit’s staff to innovate further.
