QUALITY ENGINEERING & TESTING

Migration Testing: HML

Flexible testing allows HML to realise £200,000 a month cost savings ahead of schedule.

Background:

Following the merger of HML’s parent company with another Building Society, a project involving the migration of £2.6bn of mortgage assets arose. Without the in-house staff to meet the demand for migration and testing, Sogeti support HML with a flexible resourcing model to support the project.

Solution:

In order to get an understanding of the systems and processes at HML, Sogeti deployed a core team of experienced testers, this was to ensure that when the next wave of onshore and offshore teams could have knowledge transferred easily. In addition to this a mandatory training program was implemented for everyone working on the project, which included domain training, technical training and project specific training, to ensure the migration project would be completed to the highest standard. At the peak of the project. Sogeti deployed 10 onshore and 16 offshore staff to meet the demand and design the test automation scripts needed to complete the project.

Benefits:

The migration project was successfully completed within a year, saving HML £200,000 a month by using a single infrastructure. This forged a long term relationship between Sogeti and HML and the success of the relationship has been recognised at a senior level.

Quotes:

“The calibre and expertise of the Sogeti team was very impressive and they quickly got up to speed. We would never have delivered that first project on time without their help and the staffing model has proven so effective that it prompted us to move to a permanent relationship with Sogeti to help us scale our testing capability in line with demand.”
